Eleanor-Jane lives and works on Ireland’s North Coast. Putting her passion into practice as a mature student earned her an Assoc Bach Degree with Commendation in Fine and Applied Art at the University of Ulster. During her time at Art College she specialised in print-making and mild steel sculpture; it was here that she experienced working with glass - fusing, casting and printing on glass. Since then she has developed her knowledge and skill of glass working, using both warm and cold processes in her practice. She works from her home studio and also from The Boat House Gallery, Shop and Studio at The Giant’s Causeway. Here she is part of the Creative Causeway (a group of six artists who run the gallery, shop, studio and facilitate workshops).
Eleanor-Jane designs and makes small batch, unique, fused glass and vitreous enamel pieces - wall art, costume jewellery, free-standing work and welcomes commissions. Each piece is original, hand-cut, assembled and fused with care. Her practice is often informed by weathered marks on our rich and ancient layered land with references made to Celtic crosses, standing stones and volcanic land formations. Our coastlines’ textures and colours determine the palette she uses.
She is a Board Member of the Glass Society of Ireland and Member of Visual Artists Ireland.
